Anderson says, "I am interested in looking at the inclination of my temperament toward either boys or girls in my teaching with hopes of making my teaching more gender neutral.My aim is to identify practices in my own teaching that suggest I favor or give more attention to one gender over the other." Using her own videotapes, Anderson was able to analyze her nonverbal actions and see the ways in which she unknowingly demonstrated gender bias.Being a boy or a girl, for most children, is something that feels very natural.
